Consumer Taxation Branch — The provincial government announced its 2007 Budget on February 20, 2007. Statutes administered by the Consumer Taxation Branch are amended as a result. New Hours Of Service Regulations In Effect March 1, 2007 — The main objective of the new Regulations is to reduce the risk of fatigue-related commercial vehicle collisions by providing drivers with the opportunity to obtain additional rest. All carriers operating under a National Safety Code Certificate will be required to comply. A summary of the new rules can be viewed at: Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement website. The actual Order in Council amending the Provincial regulation can be viewed at OIC 90/2007 (B.C. Reg. 36/2007). The Order in Council which amends the Violation Ticket Administration and Fines Regulation, B.C. Reg. 89/97 (under the Offence Act) can be viewed at OIC 89/2007 (B.C. Reg. 37/2007).
