Forest and Environment News: New Private Managed Forest Land Council Regulation – This regulation will deal with operational practices related to water quality, fish habitat and soil conservation, as well as other requirements. Quickscribe will post the new Regulation as soon as it comes into force on Sept. 1, 2007. New Energy Levy – New amendments to the Social Service Tax Act will allow for a 0.4 per cent levy on sales of electricity, natural gas, grid propane and fuel oil that are non-transportation related. The levy is expected to be implemented by July 1, 2007. For more details see the Release. |

Labour and Company News: New Employer Safety Regulations coming soon! – Effective July 26, 2007 all employers must ensure that a young or new worker is given health and safety orientation and training specific to his/her workplace before the young or new worker begins work. An employer must document all their orientation and training. The new sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, sections 3.22 to 3.25, will detail 13 topics that must be included in the orientation and training.
